November Rains Signal Change

A mid-November storm may be the first atmospheric river of the season. An estimated 1 to 3 inches of precipitation is predicted throughout most of the state. (WeatherBell.com)

The Golden state will likely see its first atmospheric river storm of the season beginning Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Rain will be widespread with 1 to 3 inches of precipitation forecasted through Friday.

Now is the time to prepare your facility for for extended rain:

  • Sweep and clean work areas exposed to stormwater;

  • Cover materials stored out doors;

  • Inspect/maintain stormwater BMPs (drain inlet protection, etc.) and complete a monthly inspection report; and

  • Check sampling kits and rain gear.

Based on the current precipitation timing, this storm will likely be a Qualifying Storm Event (QSE) and require sampling.

  • A QSE is a precipitation event that produces a discharge and is preceded by 48 hours with no discharge from any drainage area.
